In many cases green projects rely on certification to help ensure their goals are being achieved and recognized. In order to accomplish USGBC LEED® certification or other frameworks like CHPS, you must have an intimate understanding of the rating system. GBS is among a small group of firms that the USGBC and GBCI has contracted with to conduct verification of project seeking LEED® certification. Having reviewed hundreds of projects over the last 6 years has provided us with insights into LEED documentation requirements and USGBC process, as well providing us an intimate view on what is happening in green building across the country and the world. GBS brings this knowledge to all the projects we work on and even teams of which we are not a part seek our expertise to assess the documentation they have developed for LEED® certification before submitting it to the USGBC.
This in-depth understanding of the ins and outs of LEED® has served us well in helping the USGBC develop new programs and products. We quite literally wrote the book on LEED® as part of the team who developed the LEED® 2009 Reference Guides, the LEED for Retail rating systems, and the USGBC Study Guides for the LEED® Accredited Professional exams Our Verification and Program Development team is dedicated to helping organizations like the USGBC develop new programs to address the changing needs of the market. Backed by the Advanced Climate Solutions team at GBS, our efforts also extend to providing high level analyses to help manufacturers and trades figure out how their product or system fits into LEED® and green building.
